Nachdem mit dem Deutschen Claudius Spiegel in Polen bereits ein Pilot den ersten Sieg seiner Karriere feiern konnte, ist auch der Sieg des Malaysiers Halim Othman in Ascot eine absolute Premiere. Die britischen Zuschauer konnten trotzdem feiern, da der britische Lokalmatador Tom Bennet auf dem zweiten Platz landete und einen weiteren Sprung im Gesamtklassement machte.
